The Macau Palace will finally be refurbished and turned into a dining and retail compound, according to various media reports in Macau. The project will be part of the Ponte 16’s phase 3 expansion, which will see the former floating casino – once featured in the 1974 James Bond classic “The Man With The Golden Gun” – relocated from its current location in Lam Mau harbour in Fai Chi Kei to the Pier 14 in the Inner Harbour area, where Ponte 16 is located.
Success Universe Group owns 49 per cent of Ponte 16, while Macau Palace owner SJM Holdings owns 51 per cent of it. Once relocated to the Inner Harbour, the Macau Palace – originally opened in 1962 – will no longer have a casino and, instead, will feature a museum on the city’s gaming history.
