The 12th Global Tourism Economy Forum • Macao 2026 (GTEF) kicked off on Thursday and will conclude today.

Themed “Crisis • Resilience • Evolution – Building a Tourism Economy for a Shared Future”, the forum brings together leaders and elites from the tourism and related industries around the world to explore new trends, opportunities and challenges for the development of the global tourism economy, according to a press release issued by the Macau SAR’s Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance.

Furthermore, it brings together government officials, representatives of international organisations, business leaders, experts and scholars from around the world to discuss the most pressing issues for tourism upon the changing global economic landscape.

Launched in Macau in 2012, GTEF serves as a major international exchange platform of Macau, giving full play to the SAR’s advantages gifted by the policy of “One Country, Two Systems” and the strengths of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), to promote innovative and sustainable development of the tourism economy.

Since its inception, it has engaged over 15,500 participants from 88 countries and regions and more than 780 internationally-renowned speakers for an insightful exchange, providing opportunities for diverse dialogues and cooperation on global tourism policies and industry cooperation.
