Macau will issue typhoon signal no. 8 at 9 pm as Tropical Cyclone Tapah moves closer to the SAR, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has announced

According to the current forecast track, the bureau has pointed out that Tapah will pass within 150 km southwest of Macau early on Monday (8 September) and further strengthen.

Since the circulation of Tapah is relatively small, the wind in Macau will significantly strengthen in a short time tonight, with local winds expected to reach force 8 to 9 early on 8 September.

Under the influence of Tapah’s outer circulation, there will be frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms between tonight and tomorrow. Furthermore, under the joint effect of astronomical tide in the next few days and storm surge, flooding may occur in the Inner Harbour area, with flooding level between 0.5 and 1 meters expected during daytime tomorrow.
