Macau’s annual “Light Up Macao 2025” will take place from 6 December this year to 11 January 2026, with the theme of “Lightscape•Horizon”, according to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO).

This year’s Light Up Macao will illuminate three major districts, namely Nam Van District, Northern District and ZAPE District, with various community events and gastronomy delights set to invigorate the community tourism and nighttime economy, the tourism office revealed in a press conference held earlier this week.

Creative teams from Macau, mainland China, Portugal, South Korea, Australia and the United States have been invited to create 28 sets of light installations, interactive installations and illuminations in the abovementioned three main districts, “manifesting local creativity and international vision”. Residents and visitors are welcome to enjoy installations for free from 6-10 pm every evening throughout the event.

Furthermore, featured as a local production in Light Up Macao 2025, a 3D mapping show will be projected upon the façade of the Macao Grand Prix Museum by mapping technology. The six-minute mapping show will take place every 15 minutes from 6-10 pm every night during the event. More details can be found via Light Up Macao 2025’s official page on MGTO’s website. – GNM
