The 2026 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) kicked off on Thursday and will conclude this afternoon.
This year’s edition is themed “Low-carbon, Zero Waste Cities: Embarking on a Global Collaboration”.
Hosted by the Macau SAR Government, the event is held at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo, bringing to the city leaders representing governments and business sectors from across 30 countries and regions to explore new international green opportunities.
In addition, renowned environmental experts and scholars, Fortune Global 500 enterprises, international environmental organisations and leading environmental technology enterprises from across the world are among the participants.
Nearly 30 thematic activities have been arranged with the aim of promoting international green co-operation and industry matching, and of enhancing Macau’s role and influence in regional and international environmental co-operation, according to MIECF.
Designated as the “Green Public Day”, today’s session is open to the public with free admission. Members of the public are welcome to make use of the MIECF platform to learn about cutting-edge environmental information and technologies and to put green living into practice.
Throughout today, four free all-electric shuttle bus routes will operate between Macau’s Central District, the Northern District, Taipa and the MIECF venue. Technical visits will also be organised, including a visit to the Cotai Ecological Zones and the Macao Refuse Incineration Plant, enabling participants to gain in-depth understanding of local environmental facilities and management practices.
