The USJ International Cultural Carnival 2026 took place at the University of St. Joseph’s (USJ) Ilha Verde Campus on 16 March 2026.

Organised by USJ students and faculty members, this regular event features a cultural parade boasting a diversity of countries represented at the university, among other cultural presentations and offerings.

Over 50 countries and regions were represented in this year’s event, including Macau SAR, mainland China, South Korea, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Russia, Cape Verde and Myanmar, each representing its culture and offering free snacks and games.

USJ student Hayley Chan Ian Hei said that it was her first time attending the event and she enjoyed it, especially the performances, food and games.

Justin Pablo, a final-year Communication and Media student, told Good News Macau that he was particularly proud of his university for hosting a “unique” event, where visitors can have the opportunity to try various delicacies from different cultural booths, while enjoying cultural performances and other activities.

Organising, hosting and accomplishing such an event gives the students “a sense of fulfillment”, he pointed out. “Like, wow, we did this [event],” added Pablo, who has had his own experience being a volunteer in the previous carnivals. (Kaira Sam)
