Some schools in Macau were scheduled to begin the new academic year tomorrow but the school opening has since been postponed as Super Typhoon Saola comes closer to Macau, prompting the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) to hoist Typhoon Signal No. 3 at 11 pm tonight, while Signal No. 8 may be issued sometimes between the afternoon and evening tomorrow. There will be showers and thunderstorms in the next few days and flooding is expected to occur in low-lying areas during daytime on Saturday, according to the bureau. In addition, the possibility of issuing the Yellow storm surge warning is high. The public is advised to pay attention to the latest weather information. (Wong Kin Ang)
