More than 100 participants joined a free contemporary art seminar by local artist Ung Vai Meng, which was hosted by Sands China at the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) recently. Entitled “Behind the Forms: The Essence of Contemporary Art”, the seminar was part of the city’s ongoing Art Macao 2023.
Co-organised by the Macau Artist Society and coordinated by Macau Youth Art Association, the event was held as an extended academic event in tandem with “Behind the Forms: Aesthetics of Contemporary Art – Trio Exhibition by Lei Ieng Wai, Leong Chi Mou and Lai Sio Kit”, a collateral exhibition currently held at Sands Gallery, also in support of this year’s Art Macao.
In addition, Ung has been commissioned by Sands China to create his own work for Art Macao, titled “The Genesis of Rationality”, which is currently being displayed in the “Art Macao’s Invitational Exhibition by Local Artists” at the Macao Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape.
