The Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre of the Depart of Portuguese of the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities is currently holding an exhibition to commemorate the centenary birth of late Macanese writer and lawyer Henrique de Senna Fernandes.
The exhibition kicked off on 16 October and will run until 18 December, showcasing the writer’s life, professional career, as well as literary works and mementos – including novels and short stories like A Trança Feiticeira (The Bewitching Braid) and Amor e Dedinhos de Pé (Love and Tiny Toes), both of which were adapted into films with the same titles.
Born on 15 October 1923, Senna Fernandes is seen by literary critics as a guardian of Macau’s heritage. He was awarded the Medal of Merit – Culture by the Macau SAR Government in 2001 and received a Doctor of Letters honoris causa from the UM in 2008. He passed away on 4 October 2010.
