The Macao Museum of Art (MAM), which is under the city’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), launched the “Centennial Retrospective of Lok Cheong’s Art” exhibition yesterday. Co-organised by the Macau Artist Society, the exhibition is held on the museum’s third floor. The exhibition’s opening ceremony yesterday was officiated by National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Vice-Chairman Edmund Ho, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau’s Department of Publicity and Culture Director Wan Sucheng, IC President Leong Wai Man and Macau Artist Society Executive Vice President Sio In Leong, among others.
Representatives of Lok’s family, Lok Po and Lok Hei, also participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Born in 1923, Lok was one of the Macau Artist Society’s founding presidents. He died in 2006.
The art museum has received a donation of over 200 works by Lok Cheong and 100 works by his friends, from the Lok Family. The museum presents the exhibition in celebration of the centennial anniversary of Lok’s birth this year. The exhibition features a total of 150 artworks, including 100 of Lok’s paintings, some of his sketches, as well as several works by his friends. The artworks also include oil paintings, watercolours, Chinese paintings, drawings, manuscripts and documents.
The exhibition is open from 10 am to 7 pm daily, except Monday, until 7 April. Admission is free. Guided tours are available in the afternoon on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. For more information visit MAM’s website.
