Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said in Jakarta recently his ministry is proposing visa free entries for travellers from 20 countries, including China, whose citizens currently require visa on arrival to enter Indonesia. The policy may start as early as the coming month, according to Indonesian authorities. Meanwhile, Australia, France, Germany, India, South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom are also among the 20 countries. The move is expected to increase foreign tourist visits and, hence, generate a multiplier effect on the Southeast Asian country’s economy, according to various media reports.
