President Ferdinand Marcos signed into law on 26 February the expanded Centenarian Law, granting Filipino elderlies aged 80-95 each a monetary benefit of 10,000 pesos every five years or until they reach 95 years old, various Philippine media organisations have reported.
Filipinos residing in the Philippines or abroad are eligible to receive the monetary benefit, according to the Republic Act (RA) 11982, an amendment to the Centenarians Act of 2016, which expands the coverage of RA 10868. Under the current RA 10868, those who reach the age of 100 get a one-time incentive of 100,000 pesos. (Rosewyn Palomo)
