CULTURAL BUREAU’S ‘FADO NIGHTS’ CONCERTS KICK OFF

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has organised a series of “Fado Nights” concerts, with the first one kicking off on Friday night, attended by IC President Leong Wai Man, Advisor of the Office of the Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Bureau Lo Hou Chi, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Cheng Wai Tong and Head of Delegation of the Orient Foundation in Macao Catarina Cottinelli da Costa, among others. 

The Fado concerts, featuring singers Tiago Correia and Barbara Santos, are held at Dom Pedro V Theatre on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 24 March. Tickets are priced at MOP 200 – includes a drink. In addition, there is an exhibition in the Theatre Gallery for the public to learn more about the history of Fado. Fado music was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011.
