The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) has launched its 2nd Macao-wide English Poetry Writing and Recital Contest, themed “A Pocketful of Effervescence in the Greater Bay Area”, with the poem submission deadline scheduled on 1 March, while the semi-finals announcement will take place on 30 March. The Final Contest Recital will be held at USJ’s Ilha Verde Campus on 22 April and finalists who do not attend the final event will be disqualified.
The competition is open to the following categories: elementary school students (Grade 3-6), secondary school students (Form 1-6) and university students (bachelor’s and master’s degrees), including mainland and international students. Each participant must write and submit an original poem that fits into one of three sub-themes, namely “Sights and Flavours”, “Blended Cultures” or “A Walk Down Memory Lane”.
Application fee is MOP 10. Winners will receive trophies and cash prizes ranging from MOP 500-5,000. The contest is also co-organised and sponsored by Macau Youth Greater Bay Area Development Association. Details on the contest can be obtained from USJ’s website.
