The “Frances Yip and Macao Chinese Orchestra”, which is part of the 34th Macao Arts Festival (MAF), is set to take place at The Londoner Theatre tonight.
Born in Hong Kong in 1947, 76-year-old Cantopop singer Frances Yip (pictured, centre) became famous in the Chinese music scene in the 1980s with her signature tune “The Bund”. She has been dubbed Asia’s “Queen of Songs”, having released over 80 albums in different languages throughout more than four decades of career – including Indonesian, Malay, Thai, Japanese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Spanish and English.
Yip has performed in more than 30 countries and last collaborated with the Macao Chinese Orchestra back in 2004.
