The 3rd Macao-wide English Essay Competition (MEEC) launched its “Nature and Me” sustainable development exhibition at the Universal Gallery & Bookstore last weekend.

The exhibition is organised by MEEC’s organising entity Macau Professional Speaking Association (MSPA) in collaboration with the Language Exchange & Cultural Promotion Association, Society of Food & Environmental Health, as well as the Sustainable Development Association.

The exhibition, an extension to the 3rd MEEC that concluded earlier this year, showcases excerpts from the winning essays of the competition and introduces the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The MEEC is Macau’s first English-writing contest centred around the United Nations’ 17 SDGs.

The exhibition’s curator Jane Qiu said: “Through this exhibition, we can enjoy the written works of students in Macau as they share their ideas about what sustainable development means to them. By encouraging meaningful dialogue about our relationship with nature, we hope to highlight the importance of this issue so that we can work together to create a better future.”

The exhibition is open from 11 am to 7 pm daily until 19 July. Admission is free. It is held on the first floor of the Universal Gallery & Bookstore (R2 Shop, Centro Comercial da Praça da Tap Siac – commonly known as “Glass House”). For more information visit the MEEC’s website. (Gilbert Humphrey)
