The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election has recently announced that three polling stations will be used in the 11 August voting to choose the Chief Executive Election Committee members.
The Industrial, commercial and financial sectors’, as well as the educational sub-sector’s polling station will be the Macao Polytechnic University’s (MPU) Multi-Sport Pavilion, while the cultural and labour sub-sectors’ polling station will be the Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional School.
Furthermore, the professional, sports and social service sub-sectors’ polling station will be the Macao Forum.
Polling stations will be open from 9 am to 6 pm on 11 August. The Electoral Affairs Commission will send a poll notice to the registered address of those with the right to vote on the membership composition of the Chief Executive Election Committee.
The poll notice contains information such as the election date, opening hours of the polling stations, the designated polling station for the recipient, as well as QR codes for access to election guidelines and a video with a guide to make the voting.
The eligible voters can also find out about their designated polling stations via the Macao One Account.
In addition, the Electoral Affairs Commission has designated the Macau Baptist College as a backup polling station and will make the necessary preparations for its use if needed.
Meanwhile, The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election has issued guideline 1/CAECE/2024, with binding power and covering standards and regulations on four aspects regarding the 11 August poll, comprising prohibitions of “engaging in illegal campaigning activity”, “using mobile phones and other devices with communication or recording capabilities inside polling stations”, “voters disclosing their polling preference after the vote is cast or disclosing their voting intention” and the “mandatory use of designated pens to mark the ballot papers”.

Following the 11 August voting for the Chief Executive Election Committee members, the 400-member committee will subsequently elect the sixth-term Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
The campaigning period for the 11 August poll will begin after the stroke of midnight on 27 July and end at midnight on 9 August 2024. (Gilbert Humphrey)
