Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched its four-day mega roadshow “Journey to Experience Macao” in Tokyo’s Akihabara neighbourhood in Japan on Thursday as part of the office’s efforts to expand the Northeast Asian markets by capitalising on Macau’s designation as a Culture City of East Asia 2025 through showcasing the diversity of glamourous “tourism+” the SAR has to offer.

Scheduled to conclude today, the mega roadshow – that blends “anime spirit” with Macau’s unique East-meets-West charm – is one of the major promotional events in the local tourism office’s overseas marketing campaign this year, according to MGTO.

The event’s opening ceremony on Thursday as officiated by MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) Director Takashi Watanabe, Japan National Tourism Organisation’s (JNTO) Overseas Promotion Department Executive Director Yoshinobu Ota, Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Director and Secretary General Koji Ikehata, as well as Macau’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) Director of Board Directors Elaine Wong Yee Lam. – GNM
