Macau SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai recently hosted a dinner reception for consul-generals and representatives – accompanied by their spouses – who are based in Macau and Hong Kong, during which he stressed Macau’s commitment in aligning itself with national development strategies by making institutional progress and optimising policies.

This includes developing the city as an international stage for exchanges, making use of the benefits of enhanced inclusiveness, convenience and efficiency, according to a press release issued by the SAR’s Government Information Bureau (GCS).

The consul-generals and representatives attending the dinner reception represented nearly 50 countries and international organisations based in the two SARs, who also visited the Macao Grand Prix Museum and the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao prior to the reception.

At the reception, Sam extended his warmest welcome, while also expressing heartfelt appreciation, to all the consul-generals and consular representatives, for their contribution over the years in fostering cooperation between Macau and countries across the world, in the areas of commerce and trade, culture, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

They have helped Macau to give full play to its role as an international cooperation platform and its role in deepening international exchanges and cooperation, the chief executive underlined, as pointed out in the GCS press release.

Sam also said Macau welcomes all countries and regions to make good use of the SAR’s role as an international cooperation platform and sincerely invites enterprises and tourists from across the globe to experience the developmental vitality of Macau and China.

He added Macau is willing to share its development opportunities, and expand its international circle of friends, so that it can further broaden its economic cooperation, according to the press release.

Sam also hopes that consul-generals and consular representatives will continue to fully leverage the role as a bridge connecting Macau and all countries, as well as promote the city to more international friends.

Meanwhile, other officials attending the reception included Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the MSAR Liu Xianfa, Secretary for Administration and Justice Cheong Weng Chon, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Tam Vai Man, as well as Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive’s Office Chan Kak.
