There’s a new K-pop singer and his name is Park Geon-roung. But the 17-year-old doesn’t need to wait for his debut album’s launch to get famous as he is already one of the world’s most-recognised persons ever since he became the poster boy of the “Baby Shark” song released by South Korean educational entertainment company Pinkfong a decade ago.

Park’s dance movements along with a co-star, a girl named Elaine Kim Johnston, in the 2016 music video of Pinkfong’s Baby Shark version have since become a global phenomenon, with more than 17.24 billion YouTube views up to today, making it the most-viewed YouTube video of all time.

While proud of his Baby Shark boy image, Park now wants to “share his own voice with the world” and not just his dance moves, as reported by AsiaOne

He has now launched his music career using the name “Baby Shark Boy” with a song titled “Wave”.

He told The Guardian newspaper: “To me, being the Baby Shark boy isn’t a past I want to leave behind.”

Still, Park wants people to know him more than just a child star as he strives to find more of his own style as an artist, The Guardian reported. – GNM/Gilbert Humphrey
