Macau’s total population at the end of the first half of this year stood at 686,500, an increase of 600 year-on-year, according to the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
As regards the gender distribution, the female population (371,000) exceeded the male population (315,500), accounting for 54 per cent of the total.
Male babies comprised 52.5 per cent of the 1,340 live births in the first half year, while the city’s mortality totalled 1,329, with the leading cause of death being Neoplasms (473 or 35.6 per cent of total), followed by Diseases of the Circulatory System (362, 27.2 per cent) and Diseases of the Respiratory System (138, 10.4 per cent).
