Local art group Art For All (AFA) Macau has launched its open call for the “17th AFA Autumn Salon 2026” and the “Orient Foundation Art Award 2026”, with the application period scheduled to run through the end of the month.

The “AFA Autumn Salon”, introduced in 2010, has become a premier annual event for local artists to showcase their talents and exchange creative ideas, according to AFA Macau.

This year, the 17th Autumn Salon will usher in a historic breakthrough and an elevated experience as the organiser will present for the first time “A Tale of Two Cities”, bringing two distinctive contemporary art feasts to audiences in Macau and Shanghai.

The Macau edition of this year’s Autumn Salon will once again be held from October to November 2026 at Casa Garden, the delegation of the Orient Foundation (FO).

Furthermore, AFA Macau’s Autumn Salon will debut in Shanghai in 2027, hosting the Shanghai edition of the exhibition at the Shanghai Powerlong Museum.

To encourage the creative endeavors of young artists in Macau, FO has established the “Orient Foundation Art Award” dedicated to local talents.

Applicants must be Macau residents, students studying in Macau, or individuals working in the SAR. Creators of any nationality aged between 18 and 35 are welcome to participate.

The prize includes a total value of MOP 50,000 to fund the winner for a one-month artist residency in Portugal, engaging in creation, exchange, or training at a private or public art institution. Shortlisted and winning artworks will be exhibited alongside the selected works of the Autumn Salon.

There are no restrictions on the medium of the submitted artworks. All types of contemporary artworks are accepted, including painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, video, digital and installation art, among others.

Artworks must be created between 2024 and 2026, with each artist allowed to submit a maximum of three pieces/sets of artworks for jury selection.

Judging criteria includes innovation, technique, artistry, theme, exhibition effect and marketability. More details can be found via this link. For more information visit AFA Macau’s Facebook page. – GNM
