Taipa Village Cultural Association will present local artist Felix Vong’s first solo exhibition, entitled “The First Contemporary Art Museum of Macau”, at its Taipa Village Art Space from 2 August to 22 September. The exhibition will showcase over 25 art pieces inspired by international artists.
Born in Macau in 1989, Vong currently works and lives in Lisbon, where he is completing his master’s degree in multimedia art at the University of Lisbon’s School of Fine Arts. His work includes painting, drawing, illustration and photography – as well as institutional critique. He is interested in the impact of imitation, appropriation, vandalism, mockery, dark humour and hoaxes in the space between fake and real.
In his upcoming first solo exhibition in the Old Taipa Village, Vong uses appropriation to rework and rethink about contemporary art and cultural history, with half of the artworks done by himself while the rest are produced in collaboration with other artists from Portugal. Vong’s art pieces have been displayed in various collective exhibitions in Macau, Portugal, France and Italy. “The First Contemporary Art Museum of Macau” exhibition is supported by the Cultural Development Fund and will be open from noon to 8 pm daily.
