The Macao Grand Prix Museum has partnered with LEGO HK to present a special exhibition, entitled “Macao Grand Prix Museum x LEGO Speed Racing”, which kicked off yesterday, showcasing a LEGO model of Formula 3 race car at the scale of 1:1 as the museum’s new regular exhibit in celebration of Macau SAR’s 25th anniversary.
At the museum’s invitation, LEGO-certified professional artist Andy Hung has designed and built the life-size F3 model car with over 300,000 LEGO bricks, which took him about seven weeks to complete. Mainly in green colour, the car is decorated with lotus pattern – Macau’s symbol – and number 25, representing the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
The artist has previously built LEGO models of Macau’s World Heritage, events and landmarks which were displayed in Ritz Building at the Senado Square and at the Macao Science Centre in Nape in 2015 – a collaboration between the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and LEGO HK.
Meanwhile, apart from the new regular LEGO F3 car exhibit at the Macao Grand Prix Museum, from yesterday until 31 August, visitors to the museum can enjoy building their own model race cars using LEGO bricks at the museum’s exhibition zone and test the model cars on a steep platform in the zone.
In addition, during the same period, visitors to the museum can obtain a coupon with each admission ticket purchased. They can then redeem the coupon for a free LEGO set of “30343 McLaren Elva” at official LEGO shops and enjoy a 10% discount for purchases of any LEGO set of the series as follows: LEGO Classic, City, Creator 3 in 1, Speed Champions or Technic.
The free sets are limited and available in different varieties while stock lasts.
