The 2024 Macao Water Run will be held at the Hac Sa Reservoir Natural Park in Coloane on 24 November.
The event is organised by Sincere Simple Diligent Association with Melco Resorts & Entertainment as the event’s title sponsor.
The Macao Water Run aims to increase public awareness of the importance of water conservation and “improving the quality of life for people in [mainland] China who have difficulties in accessing clean water”, according to the event’s website.
In this run, participants carry bottled water to run through hilly trails “to experience the hardship and difficulties of travelling long distances in bringing water back home” in a bid to educate younger generations to save water in their daily activities and achieve environmental sustainability, the website points out.
There are four races in the event: 10KM Challenge Race, 3KM Fun Race, 3KM Family Race (1 adult and 1 child) and 3KM Family Run (2 adults and 1 child). Registrations for the first three races cost MOP 300 each, while the 3KM Family Run’s registration fee is MOP 600.
Registration fees and other funds raised in the event will be donated to poverty-stricken areas as well as other charitable activities, according to Macao Water Run’s Facebook page. For registration and more information visit the event’s website. (Wong Kin Ang)
