Filipina photographer Hannah Reyes Morales and visual artist Ren Galeno, as well as Filipina-American investigative journalist Nicole Dungca, have become finalists of this year’s Pulitzer Prize.

Morales is up for the prestigious Pulitzer Prize in the “Feature Photography” category for her contributory work in the New York Times’ “How the Youth Boom in Africa Will Change the World”, while Galeno and Dungca have been selected as finalists in the “Illustrated Reporting and Commentary” category for their work “Searching for Maura”, with journalist Clair Healy, on The Washington Post, according to Philstar.com.

Established in 1917 by the will of Hungarian-American politician and newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer, the Pulitzer Prizes are two-dozen annual awards given by New York’s Columbia University for achievements in the United States in the fields of journalism, arts and letters.
