The 43rd Macao Green Week will run from 16-24 March under the theme of “Passing on the love of nature to build a beautiful city together”. Based on the concept of the “World Planting Day”, a number of tree planting and experience activities will be held during the green week to introduce Macau’s greening development, ecological resources and conservation status.

Organised by the city’s Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the event will see nearly a thousand saplings planted together by groups and members of the public to encourage their participation in environmental greening activities and joint protection of natural ecological resources. In addition, IAM will continue to organise eco-tours in Hengqin to provide the public with more opportunities to “get close to nature”, according to the bureau.

Meanwhile, this year’s Green Week carnival will be held in Taipa’s Avenida da Praia from 2-6 pm on 16 and 17 March, with the Green Week’s opening ceremony scheduled to take place during the carnival on 16 March at 3 pm. The carnival will feature various informative booths about flora and fauna native to Macau, invasive species, protection and conservation of ancient and valuable trees, wildlife breeding, as well as lotus planting, among others.

Furthermore, there will be game booths, handicrafts workshops and ecological tours. For more information about the event visit IAM’s or Macao Nature’s websites.
