Macau SAR is the world’s third richest jurisdiction based on its Gross Domestic Product, Purchasing Power Parity (GDP-PPP) per capita, US$134,041.95, according to US financial magazine Global Finance.
Claiming the title of world’s richest this year is Southeast Asian city-state Singapore, with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$156,755.35, followed by the landlocked European Grand Duchy of Luxembourg that came second on the list, with a GDP-PPP per capita of US$152,915.41, the magazine reported early this month.
Ireland, Qatar, Norway, Switzerland and Brunei Darussalam have placed fourth to eighth in respective order. (Gilbert Humphrey)
