Macau recorded a total of 40,069,360 visitor arrivals in 2025, representing an increase of 14.7 per cent year on year, according to the city’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Throughout last year, the SAR received 29,017,164 visitors from mainland China, an 18.5-per cent year-on-year increase. In addition, visitors from the nine Pearl River Delta cities in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) rose by 23.7 per cent year on year to 14,828,192, driven by an upsurge of 58.1 per cent in the number of visitors from Zhuhai, while visitors from the neighbouring Hong Kong SAR (7,300,582) and the Taiwan region (996,140) went up by 1.7 per cent and 19.4 per cent year on year, respectively.
The number of international visitors to Macau last year increased by 13.7 per cent year on year to 2,755,474.
Analysed by checkpoint, the number of visitor arrivals by land (33,084,253 or 82.6 per cent of the total number) grew by 19.1 per cent year on year in 2025, while those arriving through the Border Gate and Hengqin Port checkpoints increased by 23.5 per cent and 42.0 per cent, respectively.
On the other hand, visitor arrivals by sea (3,935,435 or 9.8 per cent of the total number) and by air (3,049,672 or 7.6 per cent of the total number) dropped by 3.9 per cent and 0.5 per cent, respectively, according to DSEC.
