Macau has a new interactive space themed around the city’s tourism mascot “Mak Mak”, which officially opened yesterday inside the Ritz Building at the Senado Square in the city centre.
Inaugurated by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the special exhibition entitled “Mak Mak Experience Hub” brings together elements of tourism, culture and creativity, technology, as well as story narration into a confluence of immersive experiences for visitors, raising Mak Mak’s visibility as a local iconic IP and the city’s reputation as a travel destination, according to the tourism office.
Themed “Mak Moments”, the exhibition consists of four themed zones and various interactive experiences, alongside a variety of cultural and creative Mak-themed commodities.
From Mak Mak’s office to interesting life moments, the Hub brings to life the local tourism mascot’s vibrant image and the city’s unique charm in tourism and other fields.
Furthermore, the four themed zones comprise “Mak Mak’s Office”, “Mak Friends Livestreaming Room”, “Mak Mak’s Daily Travel” and “Mak Mak’s Gourmet Station”.
MGTO launched the “IP Licensing Program for Macao Tourism Mascot ‘Mak Mak’” in April this year, encouraging collaborative entities to harness Mak Mak’s image to develop a diversity of products and experiences for the concerted development between “tourism + culture and creativity”.
The program lets Mak Mak venture into the world as an iconic brand for the destination, according to MGTO.
The “Mak Mak Experience Hub” exhibition is open daily until 3 January 2027, from noon to 6 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 11 am to 7 pm every Saturday, Sunday and specified dates. More details on this report can be found via this link.
