Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai is set to lead a delegation of Macau SAR’s government officials and entrepreneurs on an official visit to Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia from today to 5 September.
This official visit aims to strengthen Macau’s close ties with the three Southeast Asian nations, based on existing friendly relations, and to promote practical cooperation across multiple sectors, according to Macau’s Government Information Bureau (GCS).
The Macau SAR Government will host reception dinners and roadshows on trade, tourism and investment in Singapore, Jakarta (Indonesia) and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), aiming to highlight the successful implementation in Macau of the “One country, two systems” principle and introduce key elements of the Third Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Macau SAR (2026-2030), while also showcasing new opportunities arising from the deepening integration of Macau and Hengqin.
The events will also feature business matchmaking and other activities to foster collaboration.
In addition, Sam will meet with state leaders and officials of the three countries, as well as representatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), with a view to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas such as economics and trade, science and technology, culture and tourism, as well as education, with the visit also hoped to elevate Macau’s overall engagement with ASEAN, according to GCS.
