The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) is calling for exhibition proposals from local curators for the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” (Art Macao 2023), with all individuals and associations engaged in contemporary art welcomed to participate. The art event is organised by IC and co-organised by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., SJM Resorts, Limited and Wynn Macau, Limited.
Themed “The Statistics of Fortune”, the Art Macao 2023 aims to explore the correlation between science and religion through artworks. The event has been described by the organisers as a “mega international cultural and artistic event” in Macau, with the selected proposals to have a contemporary art exhibition held for a period of no less than eight weeks between August and November.
Interested parties should apply to join as a team – each comprising at least two members aged 18 years or above, and at least one must have qualification and/or experience in participating in public contemporary art exhibitions or study in an art major.
No more than 4 exhibition proposals will be selected. The selection results will be announced in June. Each of the selected teams will be awarded a maximum of MOP 500,000 in subsidy to produce the exhibition. Submission deadline is 24 May.
