The “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” (Art Macao) is being held throughout July to October, featuring 30 art exhibitions across the city – divided into eight sections, namely the Main Exhibition, Public Art Exhibition, City Pavilion, Special Exhibition, Invitational Exhibition by Local Artists, Local Curatorial Project, Art Exhibition of Higher Education Institutions and Collateral Exhibition. The exhibitions showcase modern and contemporary masterpieces by over 200 active and representative artists from more than 20 countries and regions, according to Macau’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC).
Under the patronage of Macau SAR’s Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, the Art Macao 2023 is organised by IC and co-organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment, MGM, Sands China, SJM Resorts and Wynn Macau, with the participation of various consulate generals of different countries in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as a list of higher educational institutions from Macao and the mainland.
The Art Macao “creates a co-production model in which government, enterprises, artists and the public are involved in the participation to shape a new local cultural tourism brand, so as to develop Macau into a dazzling international platform for artistic exchanges and promote the development of ‘culture +’,” according to IC.
