Macau ranked first in terms of destinations for mainland residents travelling outbound in the first half of this year, according to “Big Data Report on Outbound Tourism in the First Half of 2023” recently published by China Tourism Academy, Macau’s Government Information Bureau (GCS) reported recently.
The data report showed 40.37 million outbound trips by the mainland tourists were recorded from January to June 2023. Among these, 50.9 per cent represented trips to Macau, while Hong Kong came second with 26.66 per cent.
According to data from Macau’s Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the number of mainland tourists visiting Macau within the first half of this year represented a 52.7-per cent recovery from the pre-pandemic figure recorded in the same period in 2019.
