Macau Pass has announced in a statement recently that its mobile service platform MPay will expand coverage to over 40 countries next year – either by September or between October and December 2024 – including the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, United States, United Kingdom and the European Union (EU) members.

Macau Pass is owned by AGTech Holdings, a subsidiary of Alipay’s owner Alibaba Group.

MPay’s international coverage will be done through Alipay+ and available only for MPay users holding a Macau ID card who have a 3A, 3B or JR status on the the MPay app. Users will simply need to switch the Alipay+ overseas payment code on MPay when seeing the Alipay+ logo at the merchants in those countries, according to various media reports.
