Some residents have recently filed complaints to the Judiciary Police (PJ) claiming they had received SMS with embedded links from fake couriers asking them to respond to submit some information and pay extra fees through the links to claim their parcels. The PJ said similar cases had occurred in the past, advising the public to stay alert and not provide any opportunity for the fraudsters to obtain personal information or money. Those receiving such SMS should verify through official channels. Upon suspecting a fraud case, the public is urged to contact PJ’s anti-scam hotline at 8800 7777 or Macau’s crime report hotline at 993 for assistance.
