From 30 September, the statutory minimum wage for foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong is HK$4,870 per month, a three-per cent increase from the previous HK$4,730, the Hong Kong Government has announced.
In addition, employers in Hong Kong are required to provide foreign domestic helpers with free food or pay a food allowance in lieu in the amount of not less than HK$1,236 per month, a hike of HK$40 from not less than HK$1,196.
These changes will apply to all contracts signed by all foreign domestic helpers on or after 30 September. For more information visit the Hong Kong Government’s website. (Wong Kin Ang)
