Tropical Cyclone Koinu is expected to approach and affect Hong Kong and the surrounding regions sometimes this week as it possibly develops into a strong typhoon. By Thursday, it is expected to enter within 800 kilometres from Hong Kong, according to a report by Dimsum Daily.

However, the Hong Kong Observatory has pointed out that the path and intensity of Koinu may vary due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. Meanwhile, Koinu – named Jenny in the Philippines – as of noon yesterday was located 790 kilometres east of Tuguegarao City in Cagayan and started to affect the Philippine weather, according to Philstar Global.
