University of Macau (UM) Rector Song Yonghua has recently attended the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2024 in Hainan, where he joined nearly 2,000 guests from over 60 countries and regions to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Asia and the world.
Speaking in a panel discussion on the theme of “Global AI Governance”, which was held during the conference, Song emphasised the importance of education the AI development, calling for the promotion of AI education among students and people from different sectors of the community, particularly in the areas of AI ethics, morality and law.
During his visit to Hainan, Song also led a UM delegation to visit Hainan University, where they were welcomed by Fu Xuanguo, secretary of the Party Committee of Hainan University, as well as Hainan University Vice President Chen Jun. In this meeting, Song said the UM and Hainan University will deepen their academic exchanges and explore joint talent development programmes.
