The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Macao (CanChamMacao) celebrated Canada Day with an event titled “True North Splendour: Celebrating Canada Day in Style” at the Studio City Macau in Cotai last Saturday.

Informally regarded as “Canada’s birthday”, Canada Day falls on 1 July, celebrating the anniversary of Canadian Confederation, when the three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick became a single dominion within the British Empire in 1867. The national day was originally called Dominion Day and was renamed Canada Day in 1982.

CanChamMacao’s “True North Splendour: Celebrating Canada Day in Style” was attended by Canadian Acting Consul-General Jason Reeve and members of the Canadian Consul & Trade Commission team, along with representatives from other consulates and various international chambers of commerce in Macau and Hong Kong.

The International School of Macao (TIS) was the event’s title sponsor, while Melco Resort & Entertainment was the venue sponsor. Other sponsors included Wynn Resorts Macau, Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau, MGM, Mandarin Oriental, The Executive Center and Prem1er Bar.

“Their support reflected the strong commitment towards fostering Canadian business and establishing meaningful connections within the wider community,” according to CanChamMacao.

Furthermore, the event showed the growing presence of Canadian culture and business in the region, offering the opportunity for networking, cultural exchange and community engagement.
