The Sports Bureau (ID) is organising a fun walk today in celebration of the new Macau Bridge’s inauguration.
Participants must bring the wristbands they collected yesterday to the entrance of the walking event – located near the Taipa Ferry Terminal’s parking area in Pac On (instructions for the meeting place can be seen via this YouTube video). The entrance will close at 11 am, according to the organiser.
Participants are urged to use public transport or shuttle bus services to travel to the event’s venue.
The shuttle bus services will be available from four departure stops: Avenida Doutor Mário Soares (near New Yaohan), Rua Central da Areia Preta (near Areia Preta Health Centre), Rua Norte do Patane and Taipa Central Park. Departure time will be from 6:30 am to 10:30 am and the return time will be from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Participants who wish to travel by car can park their vehicles at the Taipa Ferry Terminal’s car park, which has limited parking spaces, and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis. For groups of marchers, if they are using buses with 22 or more seats, they are requested to stop at the temporary pick-up and drop-off area for tourist buses.
The total walking route is approximately 6 kilometres and there are no exits along the way. All participants are reminded to self-assess their health status before setting off, and are responsible for their own safety during the march.
In addition, participants are prohibited from entering the even area carrying any objects that may cause danger or impede the event. Drone filming will not be permitted. Participants must store their personal belongings properly (the event does not provide storage services).
Group participants must request and show the organisers any flags, banners, illustrations, among others, that they wish to bring. If the items they show are considered prohibited objects, they will not be allowed to use them.
Furthermore, participants must not bring pets to the event, with the exception of guide dogs accompanying visually-impaired individuals. Participants may not use any means of transport to participate in the event except for motorised vehicles for individuals with reduced mobility.
The organisers advise each participant to bring a raincoat and, in order to support environmental protection, a personal water bottle (there will be water stations to refill their own water bottles). The Macau Bridge is Macau’s fourth bridge, which is scheduled to open on 1 October, coinciding with the country’s National Day.
