The 2024 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon will be held on 1 December, with this year’s event particularly celebrating the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the Macau SAR’s establishment, according to a press conference held on 25 September.
Officially titled “Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region – 2024 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon”, the event is jointly organised by Macau’s Sports Bureau (ID), Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM).
The press conference was attended by ID President Luis Gomes, GEG Director Philip Cheng and AGAM President Chan Pou Sin, among others.
“GEG is deeply honoured to support the Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon for the 21st consecutive year, as well as to serve as one of its co-organisers for the second year in a row,” Cheng said, underlining his company’s commitment to continue showcasing Macau’s charm as “city of sports” to the world.
This year’s Macao International Marathon offers a total of 1,600 places for the marathon, 4,800 for the half marathon and 5,600 for the mini marathon, with the races to start at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. The marathon and half marathon races will start at 6 am while the mini marathon will start at 6:15 am.
The marathon and half-marathon courses will pass by the Governor Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and the World Heritage attraction A-Ma Temple and run along the Sai Van Bridge.
The event this year will once again open for registration on two separate dates with the marathon and the half marathon open for registration starting 2 pm on 28 September (Saturday) and the mini marathon starting 2 pm on 29 September (Sunday).
Registration can be done via the event’s website (www.macaomarathon.com) or the “Macao International Marathon” mobile app. Places are limited for each category and registration will close when all places are filled.
