Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) currently presents a collective photo exhibition, entitled “Halftone ‘24”, at its FRC Gallery in the city centre, which showcases the annual works of 24 amateur and professional artists who are members of the Halftone – Macau Photographic Association.
Curated by local photographer Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro, the exhibition displays 24 photographic works, ranging from documentary photography to artistic expression, including landscape, human, studio, conceptual and street photography – in colour or black and white.
As in last year, the association selected images by the following authors, some well-known and others unpublished, in alphabetical order: André Ritchie, André Carvalhosa, António Mil-Homens, António Sotero, António Bessa Almeida, Cássia Schutt, Catarina Cortesão Terra, Carmen Serejo, Cecília Ho, David Lopo, Elói Scarva, Francisco Ricarte, Gonçalo Lobo Pinheiro, Joana Freitas, João Miguel Barros, João Palla Martins, José das Neves, José Sales Marques, Nélson Silva, Nuno Calçada Bastos, Nuno Veloso, Sara Augusto, Stefan Nunes and Wu Haozheng.
Created in 2021, Halftone is a local not-for-profit cultural association that aims to promote contemporary photography in all its aspects. The group was founded as an inclusive and comprehensive body that is open to all who are interested in photography as an artistic or documentary expression, regardless of their experience or practice.
In addition to furthering photographic work of its members, Halftone also aims to organise exhibitions, publish magazines, books and monographs, as well as propose debates and develop pedagogical and educational projects.
The exhibition is supported by FRC and Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU). Admission is free. It runs until 14 December. For more information visit FRC’s website.
