SJM Resorts and Hong Kong Ballet have joined forces for an Alice in Wonderland-inspired new residency show, entitled “The Adventures of ALICE @ Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau”, which is scheduled to debut in April this year, with open auditions for dancers to be held on 11 and 12 January.
This reimagined classic story will come to life through captivating performances, imaginative costumes and up-close interactional with the audience under the guidance of artistic professionals.
Joining this production – choreographed by Hong Kong Ballet Artistic Director Septime Webre – will offer dancers an “extraordinary opportunity to advance their careers while showcasing their talents”, according to a press release issued by SJM.
Under Webre’s and other distinguished ballet masters’ mentorships, participants will refine their skills through professional-level rehearsals and innovative choreography in this residency show.
This collaboration between the local integrated resort company and the Hong Kong Ballet also promotes exchange, uniting talent from Macau, Hong Kong and beyond in a vibrant and multicultural setting, according to SJM.
Scheduled to be performed on selected days (including weekends and public holidays) throughout this year at the state-of-the-art 360-degree stage at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau’s Atrium on Level 1, this immersive show will feature a lively parade, whimsical performances and interactive workshops. The venue itself will feature purpose-built advanced lighting, sound and projection technology.
Male and female dancers aged 18 or above with strong classical and contemporary training or experience are eligible to audition for this production, with successful candidates to be engaged on short-term performance contracts.
The 11 January audition will be held in Macau at the Macao Conservatory School of Dance’s Rehearsal Studio, from 1 pm to 4 pm, while the 12 January audition will take place in Hong Kong at The Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts’ Studio, from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Applicants must submit a video showcasing performances in classical and contemporary ballet, a personal resume in English or Chinese, as well as one headshot and additional dance photos.
