Stricter new regulations on portable power banks will be implemented in the Macau International Airport starting next month, requiring all airlines operating at the local airport to comply, the Macau International Airport Company (CAM) has announced.

Under the new regulations, all power banks must be carried in hand luggage only, with storage in checked baggage and overhead compartments strictly prohibited, while power banks showing signs of damage, swelling, or without clear information about the device’s capacity will be confiscated at security checkpoint, according to a recent TDM report.

In addition, in-flight use of power banks will be completely banned across all airlines operating at the Macau International Airport, the report points out.
