Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano and China’s Sun Yingsha have won this year’s ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao, respectively.

The ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup Macao 2025 took place at Galaxy Macau’s Galaxy Arena in Cotai from 14 April to yesterday.

In the men’s final, China’s Lin Shidong took an early lead against Calderano (pictured, right), claiming the first game 11-6. At the end, however, the latter won four consecutive games 11-7, 11-9, 11-4, and 11-5 to seal a 4-1 victory over Lin, making Calderano the first player from outside Asia or Europe to win the Men’s World Cup title, according to ID.

Meanwhile, in the women’s final, world No. 1 Sun (pictured, left) played against rising star and fellow countrywoman Kuai Man. Sun claimed victory in four consecutive games 11-9, 11-6, 11-9 and 11-6, successfully defending her title as the Women’s World Cup champion and taking home the Hammarlund Cup.

Presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) and sanctioned by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), the event was jointly organised by Sports Bureau (ID), GEG and World Table Tennis Management Group Limited (WTMG), and co-organised by the Macau Table Tennis General Association.

Meanwhile, the event’s award ceremony was held yesterday, attended by Macau’s Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, ITTF President Petra Sörling and Deputy President Liu Guoliang, as well as GEG Chairman Francis Lui and Corporate Affairs Director Buddy Lam, among other officials.
