President Xi Jinping has been re-elected as China’s General Secretary of the Communist Party, securing him a third term in leading the nation. The 69-year-old leader won his new term on 10 March during the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) held in Beijing.

Macau’s Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng has congratulated Xi, saying that the latter’s re-election was the choice of “all Chinese people, including those in Macau”. Meanwhile, Ho flew to the nation’s capital yesterday and is scheduled to attend the closing of the first session of the 14th NPC.
