American singer, bassist, composer and arranger Julian Cary will perform at Rui Cunha Foundation’s (FRC) monthly Saturday Night Jazz at the FRC Gallery in the city centre on 28 September.

Entitled “Meet the Masters 2024: Julian Cary”, next Saturday’s Saturday Night Jazz will start at 9 pm.

Cary began writing music in 2020, a year before releasing his first solo album. Influenced by French Impressionism, classical and contemporary jazz – the counterpoint techniques of the German Baroque era – and even alternative rock, Cary aims to show people what he calls “emotional corners.”

“I hope this music tells a story that people may not have heard before. I hope they can hear my personal expression of feelings that exist between the solid lines we often associate with them,” says Cary, who is a tutor at Silpakorn University in Thailand.

Cary will bring original and jazz classic music together with members of the Macau Jazz Promotion Association. Admission is free. For more information visit FRC’s website.
