The Coloane Market will close indefinitely from 16 December as the market’s last two fruit and vegetable vendors already returned their stalls to the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) a few months ago and there are no more stalls operating in the market, the bureau announced today.

The bureau is now studying about the revitalisation and reuse of the market, according to IAM.

The bureau pointed out in its announcement, “With the development of Coloane, changes in the population structure of the old urban area of Coloane, and changes in residents’ consumption habits, the flow of people in the Coloane market has continued to decline in recent years.” (Wong Kin Ang)
