After three years since the pandemic began, Covid-19 restrictions across mainland China are finally relaxed as the nation seems to start distancing itself from its strict zero-Covid policy.
Home quarantine will be allowed in the future and people will be able to enter most placed without a negative Covid-10 test result or a health code – mandatory QR code to enter most public places is to be scrapped. Asymptomatic cases or those with only mild symptoms will be allowed to isolate at home instead of being confined to a centralised government facility. Areas not designated high-risk will not restrict people’s movement or close businesses.
In the light of this relaxation, which means Covid-19 cases would soon begin to become common in the community, the mainland’s health authorities are urging people – particularly the elderly – to get vaccinated as soon as possible, Macao News reported.
